Femtosecond Lasers

Femtosecond solid state lasers and femtosecond fiber lasers both generate ultrashort pulses, but take different approaches. Solid state femtosecond lasers use a bulk gain medium in a free space resonator, offering high pulse energies and peak powers along with soliton-like pulse shapes. Femtosecond fiber lasers guide light through a rare earth doped optical fiber, resulting in a compact, alignment free design that supports high repetition rates, efficient heat dissipation, and long term stable operation.
